Working Meeting Held within the Danube Wood(s) Route Project in Sarajevo

A working meeting with stakeholder group representatives was held on May 16, 2025, at the premises of the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency (SERDA) as part of the Danube Wood(s) Route project, which is being implemented under the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme. The Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton is an associated partner in the project.

During the meeting, participants were presented with the project’s progress to date, with a special focus on the development of a joint Danube strategy for the sustainable use and valorization of natural resources from Danube forests, as well as the cultural heritage related to wood usage.

Stakeholders were invited to actively participate in the next phase of preparing regional action plans, in order to ensure that local specificities and needs are integrated into the final project documents.

In addition to representatives of the SERDA project team and an expert from the Economic Institute, the meeting was attended by and benefited from the valuable contributions of representatives from:

the Cantonal Forestry Administration, operating under the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton,
the Cantonal Public Company "Sarajevo-šume" Ltd. Sarajevo,
the Cantonal Public Institution for Protected Natural Areas,
and the City of Sarajevo.

This meeting reaffirmed the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation in promoting the forest heritage of Sarajevo Canton as part of the joint Danube route, and opened the door for concrete proposals and initiatives to be included in the continued implementation of the project.
