The conference focused on the role of local authorities in the development of adult education and lifelong learning, with particular emphasis on strengthening cooperation between local governments, adult education providers and other relevant stakeholders in creating better learning opportunities throughout life.

These topics are of particular importance to SERDA, which through its activities contributes to human capital development, support for entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises, skills development, strengthening the capacities of local communities, and connecting the public, business and education sectors.

SERDA’s participation in the conference represented an important opportunity to exchange experiences with international partners, learn about European and international practices, and establish and strengthen contacts with institutions and organisations working in the field of adult education and lifelong learning. Cooperation with DVV International and other relevant international partners provides additional opportunities for developing new initiatives and projects aimed at advancing adult education, skills development and strengthening the capacities of local stakeholders. It also creates space for new partnerships and initiatives that can contribute to the sustainable development of Sarajevo and the Sarajevo Macro Region.

We would like to express our special gratitude to the organisers of the conference, in particular DVV International and Continental Exchange Project Europe, as well as to the partners UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), the City of Dresden and Volkshochschule Dresden e.V., for their warm hospitality, excellent organisation, and the opportunity to learn from one another through international exchange of experiences and good practices.
