SERDA Workshop Brings Together Key Stakeholders for a Climate-Neutral Sarajevo

Sarajevo – The Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA) hosted a workshop titled “Barriers and Solutions to Climate Resilience: Adaptation, Neutrality, and Nature-based Solutions” on June 10, 2025, at SERDA’s premises in Sarajevo. The event was organized as part of two European projects – BIOFIN-EU and INFIRE, in which SERDA participates as an implementation partner.

The workshop brought together over 20 participants from the public sector, financial institutions, academia, and civil society with the aim of co-developing project ideas that can contribute to reducing emissions and improving air quality in Sarajevo Canton. The main focus was on nature-based solutions (NbS) and energy efficiency (EE) measures.

The introductory session highlighted current initiatives and tools being developed through the BIOFIN-EU and INFIRE projects, including the NbS Dashboard – a digital platform for planning and financing nature-based solutions, and the Green Finance Toolkit, which helps cities translate climate projects into investor-ready language.

Throughout the interactive group sessions, participants identified key barriers to implementing climate actions – from regulatory gaps to financial challenges – and jointly developed five project concepts ready for further refinement and potential funding.

SERDA and project partners will continue working on the development and promotion of the proposed solutions, fostering cross-sector collaboration and improving access to EU funds for environmental and energy transition initiatives.
