From 19 to 21 May 2025, the BIOFIN-EU Project Plenary Meeting was held in the Netherlands, bringing together project partners from 13 organisations across 10 European countries. A representative of the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency (SERDA) participated in this important event as part of the project's implementation and international cooperation efforts in the fields of biodiversity protection and the promotion of Nature-based Solutions (NbS).

The meeting began with a visit to the impressive Naturalis Biodiversity Center in Leiden, where participants had the opportunity to explore its extensive collection of fossils, ranging from butterflies to dinosaurs. During the visit, a representative of Naturalis shared valuable insights into biodiversity in the Netherlands, while the project partners received a warm welcome from the host organisation.

Over the following two days, the programme continued with a series of interactive sessions, workshops, and presentations. Work package leaders presented the progress achieved to date and outlined the next steps in project implementation. Particular attention was given to the further development of the BIOFIN-EU Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Dashboard and agricultural finance models, including a presentation of the Thrive approach within the European agricultural finance system.

The third day of the plenary meeting focused on exchanging perspectives between citizens and investors on nature-based solutions, as well as the Civil Society Forum workshop, which encouraged discussions on the value of nature, responsibility in financing, and a shared vision for a sustainable future. Participants also took part in practical sessions on biodiversity risk assessment tools.

The BIOFIN-EU Project Plenary Meeting reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation in nature conservation, knowledge exchange, and the development of innovative financial solutions that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. SERDA will continue to actively contribute to the implementation of project activities in line with its responsibilities and strategic objectives.
