SERDA Participated in the Final Project Meeting and Final Conference of the ESINERGY Project in Bulgaria

The final project meeting brought together representatives of all project partners from the Danube Region to review the project achievements, finalize remaining activities, and agree on the final steps related to reporting, communication of results, and sustainability of project outcomes after project completion. Particular attention was given to the review of pilot actions, implementation of Master Plans, assessment of Letters of Intent, and opportunities for replicating the developed solutions in other local communities.

During the meeting, partners discussed final reporting requirements for the Interreg Danube Region Programme, communication and capitalization activities, and defined key messages and actions aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of project results.

On the second day, the ESINERGY Final Conference entitled “Pilot Actions in Practice: Solutions for Peak Load Reduction” gathered energy experts, local authorities, development agencies, energy communities, and other relevant stakeholders from across the Danube Region.

The conference showcased the results of pilot actions implemented in eight countries, focusing on innovative solutions for increasing the flexibility of local energy systems, integrating energy storage technologies, reducing peak demand, and strengthening the resilience of energy infrastructure.

During the first panel discussion, SERDA presented the pilot project from Bosnia and Herzegovina entitled “Battery-based Flexibility Solutions for Local Energy Systems”. Faruk Cerić of SERDA presented the results of the pilot action implemented in Goražde, which combines a photovoltaic power plant and battery energy storage system to reduce peak loads and improve the flexibility of the local electricity system.

The conference also featured best practice examples from Croatia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, and Germany, covering smart metering, bidirectional electric vehicle charging, energy communities, energy storage systems, and artificial intelligence-based solutions for energy grid management.

In the closing session, participants reviewed the key achievements and lessons learned from the ESINERGY project, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among local authorities, energy utilities, development agencies, and citizens in advancing the energy transition.

Participants also visited the Albena tourist resort, where they explored examples of advanced energy management systems, renewable energy production, battery storage solutions, and digital tools for optimizing energy consumption.

The ESINERGY project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Danube Region Programme and aims to empower stakeholders in implementing the Renewable Energy Directive through the deployment of energy storage solutions and the enhancement of electricity grid stability.
