Third OMC group meeting of the PROSPERO project held

The meeting brought together representatives of institutions and organisations active in the cultural and creative industries sector. The main topic was the preparation of the updated Culture Development Strategy of Canton Sarajevo until 2031.

Following a brief overview of the activities carried out so far within the PROSPERO project and the Ministry’s efforts to update the Strategy, Prof. Dr. Jasmina Osmanković from the Economic Institute Sarajevo presented a draft of the document, focusing on strategic objectives and priorities related to cultural creation, preservation of cultural heritage and development of cultural and creative industries.

During the discussion, particular attention was drawn to the lack of significant capital investments in cultural infrastructure and the need for stronger institutional and financial support. It was emphasised that culture plays a key role in preserving cultural heritage and identity; as a public good, it requires continuous support from public institutions.

Participants also discussed opportunities to improve certain sections of the Strategy, highlighting the importance of incorporating the experiences and proposals of institutions working directly in the cultural sector.

Additional consultations with representatives of relevant institutions are planned in the coming period to further consider their suggestions and take them into account when finalising the Strategy.

Through the work of the local OMC group, the PROSPERO project continues to contribute to cross-sector cooperation and the improvement of public policies for the development of cultural and creative industries in Canton Sarajevo.
