The Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA), in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FTC BiH), organized a visit to the 10th jubilee Zagreb Crafts Fair – Employment Fair and a Train-the-Trainer training for representatives of the Vocational High School Centre Hadžići, as well as for bosnian companies GS-Machine Factory Travnik and Dizart Sarajevo. These activities were carried out within the framework of the EmployVET – Engaging Employers for a Relevant and Resilient VET project, which is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program. The goal of the EmployVET project is to involve employers in the process of strengthening and developing vocational education and training in the partner countries – Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which are implementing the project.
During the first visit, on January 29, 2025, the delegation attended the 10th Zagreb Crafts Fair – Employment Fair, one of the most significant events for promoting craft professions and vocational education. The fair, organized by the Zagreb Chamber of Crafts in cooperation with the City of Zagreb and other relevant institutions, brought together numerous vocational schools, students, master craftsmen and entrepreneurs. This fair provides a unique opportunity for primary school students to explore various craft professions and vocational education opportunities. This year's fair featured 24 vocational schools presenting their programs, interactive workshops and demonstrations of modern working methods in the craft sector. Additionally, during the official opening of the fair, attended by high-ranking government officials, including ministers and other key decision-makers, the EmployVET project was publicly promoted, further highlighting the importance of connecting employers and educational institutions.
On the second day of the visit, January 30, 2025, a Train-the-Trainer training was held at the premises of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts. Participants had the opportunity to learn about the vocational education system in the Republic of Croatia, presented by the Craft College Zagreb, a partner in the EmployVET project. The training aimed to connect industry representatives and schools to better understand the challenges faced in implementing vocational education and work-based learning (WBL).
Upcoming SERDA activities within the EmployVET project
Based on the experience gained in Zagreb, SERDA, in cooperation with FTC BiH, will organize two workshops in Sarajevo in the coming period, aimed at transferring knowledge and best practices to representatives of companies and vocational schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The workshops will provide participants with insights into the results of the trainer training, vocational education systems in partner countries and opportunities to improve cooperation between companies and schools in organizing practical training and work-based learning.
SERDA invites all interested vocational schools, whether already engaged in practical training or looking to become more actively involved in this process, to express their interest in participating in the workshops by emailing ajla@serda.ba or calling 033/641-520. The contact person for additional information is Ajla Isović, EmployVET project manager.
