Organized by the Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency SERDA and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Canton Sarajevo, the Third PROSPERO Interregional Meeting was successfully held on 22-23 April 2026, bringing together project partners from several European countries, as well as representatives of relevant institutions and organizations active in the field of cultural and creative industries.
The event was opened in the building of the Government of Canton Sarajevo, where the attendees were addressed by Ms. Sanela Dževlan, Director of SERDA and Mr. Alessandro Susini, Chair of the Mentana City Council, the project’s lead partner. In their addresses, they emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the role of cultural and creative industries in modern regional development.
During the two-day program, various approaches to the development of cultural and creative industries in Canton Sarajevo were presented through examples of institutional support, local initiatives and international practices. Experiences and activities were presented by Ms. Aida Džamalija Duran, Programme Manager at SERDA, Ms. Lejla Mujkić, Assistant Minister for Culture of the Canton Sarajevo, Mr. Džanan Serdarević, Expert Associate at the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, Ms. Maša Marković, Head of Industry at the Sarajevo Film Festival and Mr. Siniša Šešum, Head of the UNESCO Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The program also included study visits to key locations in Sarajevo that contribute to the development of CCIs in various ways, including the City Hall, the City Hall Museum, the Ars Aevi Museum, the Tunnel of Hope, the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Planet Sarajevo – a contemporary interpretation centre that, through multimedia and interactive content, brings to life the cultural, historical and social development of the city, along with other important sites relevant to this sector. Through these visits, participants had the opportunity to gain a broader insight into ways of valorising cultural heritage and linking it with creative practices.
On the second day, the focus was on the exchange of experiences between partner regions through presentations of territorial analysis results and joint work on identifying barriers and possible solutions for the further development of the sector.
Hosting this meeting in Sarajevo further confirms the importance of the city and the Canton Sarajevo as an active participant in European initiatives that connect culture, creativity and development.
