The Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA is implementing the project Adriatic-Ionian Alliance for Sustainable Blue Economy – ABBA, and the associated partner on the project is the Ministry of Transport of the Sarajevo Canton. The project is funded by the European Union under the Interreg IPA ADRION program and aims to stimulate sustainable blue growth in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
The main objective of the project is to harness the potential of advanced technologies in supporting SMEs and startups in the blue economy sector.
Regional Blue HUBs
One of the initial activities of the project is the establishment of six regional centers of excellence in Greece, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. These centers will foster innovation by supporting advanced technological solutions in areas such as: Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Biotechnology. These innovations will benefit blue economy sectors, including marine energy, sustainable aquaculture, maritime transport and shipbuilding. SERDA will coordinate the establishment of the BiH Blue HUB, which will bring together relevant institutions, such as decision-makers, industry representatives, academia and civil society.
Support and opportunities
The BiH HUB will provide support through capacity building, access to financing, availability of innovative technologies, knowledge exchange and networking, increased visibility, access to talent and expansion into new markets.
