Focus group meeting held at SERDA as part of the Horizon Europe ATTRACT ADRIA project
On 13 July 2026, a focus group meeting was held at the premises of the Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA) as part of the ATTRACT ADRIA – Attractive Research Ecosystem in the Adria Region in the Field of Personalised Preventive Healthcare project, implemented under the Horizon Europe – WIDERA programme.
The focus group was organised within Work Package 4 (WP4), which is aimed at developing and testing new mechanisms to support young researchers by strengthening cooperation between academia, educational institutions, employers and relevant public institutions. One of the key activities under this work package is the involvement of relevant stakeholders in identifying needs and developing recommendations that will contribute to improving the professional development and employability of young researchers.
The focus group brought together representatives of the business sector, educational institutions and public authorities at the levels of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sarajevo Canton, with the aim of exchanging experiences and identifying challenges and opportunities for improving the position of young researchers in the labour market.
During the meeting, participants discussed labour market needs, the competencies expected from young researchers, opportunities for strengthening cooperation between academia, employers and the public sector, as well as ways of developing new support mechanisms that will contribute to their professional development and employment.
Through an open and constructive discussion, all participants actively exchanged views, experiences and proposals, making a valuable contribution to the process of developing new support mechanisms for young researchers. The conclusions and recommendations gathered during the meeting will serve as an important basis for further activities within WP4, including the development and testing of new support mechanisms aimed at strengthening the research ecosystem and improving links between the education, research and business sectors.
In the coming period, SERDA will continue, together with the project partners, to implement activities aimed at developing a more attractive research ecosystem and strengthening cooperation between science, education, the public sector and the private sector, with the objective of creating better conditions for the career development of young researchers.
