The Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA, through the CapaCITIES 2.0 project, actively contributed to the organization of the conference and participated in a panel discussion focused on innovative financing mechanisms for climate transition.

The event brought together representatives of cities, institutions, international and financial organizations, as well as experts from the Western Balkans and the European Union, with a focus on accelerating the climate transition and implementing the EU initiative for climate-neutral and smart cities. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening local climate plans and developing investment frameworks that enable the transition from strategic commitments to concrete projects.

As part of the conference, the EU Mission Label for climate-neutral and smart cities was awarded, confirming Sarajevo as one of 112 European cities leading the way towards climate neutrality.

One of the panels was dedicated to the establishment of national platforms and strengthening institutional capacities. The discussion gathered partners of the CapaCITIES 2.0 project, including representatives of the lead partner UFCISCDI from Romania, the organization Sustainable Cities from Sweden, Sarajevo Canton, and the University of Lisbon. The panel was moderated by Laura Hetel from the European Commission.

The CapaCITIES 2.0 project provides specialized support to public authorities in creating the conditions and measures that enable cities to achieve the objectives of the EU Mission for climate-neutral and smart cities.

The conference represents an important step for Sarajevo and the region in strengthening sustainable urban development and further confirms the commitment to achieving European climate goals.
