Within the project “Culture and Creativity driving prosperous development – PROSPERO”, implemented under the Interreg Europe programme, the second OMC group meeting was held on 28 April 2026 at the premises of SERDA.
The meeting brought together representatives of institutions and organizations operating in the field of cultural and creative industries in Canton Sarajevo. Continuing the initial work, the focus of this meeting was on further elaborating identified challenges and gathering concrete insights into the sector.
During the meeting, a brief overview of project activities was presented, with a focus on the territorial analysis of Canton Sarajevo, after which the discussion continued through an open exchange among participants.
It was highlighted that cultural and creative industries are still not sufficiently recognized as part of the economy. The lack of concrete data and economic indicators makes it difficult to understand their actual contribution, which is why the sector is often perceived as a cost rather than an investment.
Participants also pointed to weak collaboration within the sector, as well as the need for stronger links with other sectors, particularly education, IT and financial institutions. Limited access to workspace, along with high rental and operational costs, was also identified as one of the challenges.
The meeting concluded by defining the next steps, which will be the basis for further work of the OMC group and the development of recommendations for improving CCI policies in Canton Sarajevo.
Through such meetings, the PROSPERO project continues to strengthen cross-sector cooperation and develop concrete measures to support the sector.
